UnitusLabs.org Privacy Policy

Effective date of current policy: 6/12/2011
We believe your privacy is tremendously important. We have created this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. This Policy describes how we collect and use the information gathered through our U.S. website at www.unituslabs.org (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as set forth in this Policy. If you do not agree to this Policy, please do not use the Site. This Policy is the sole authorized statement of our practices concerning the collection, use and protection of your information through this Site.

  • About the Site
UnitusLabs.org is a website that articulates our strategy and provides information on our projects and activities around the world along with highlights of activities of other Unitus family of entities.
  • Information We Collect
    • Personal Information
Our Site collects personal information submitted to us by our users, such as names, postal addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, and other information, that can identify users personally. If you make any payments for any services or products through the Site, you will do so through a third party payment processing services provider, and such third party provider will collect personal information from you, including, without limitation, credit card and other sensitive personal information. We are not responsible for, and this Policy does not govern, the collection or use of your personal information collected by such third party provider.

The Site may make discussion forums or blogs available to users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information. You should therefore exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information in such areas.

    • Non-Personal Information

Our Site monitors visitor traffic patterns by using a method called “click tracking” to log user movement throughout the Site. As part of this effort, we collect IP address, web browser type and operating system, domain names, access times, referring URLs and page views for each session. Our Site also automatically receives and records your IP address information in our server log in when you initially register to become part of the Unitus community and each successive time you enter the Site.

Our Site also uses “cookies” (i.e., small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters that are placed on a visitor computer’s hard drive) and other technologies that allow us to recognize your browser when you visit our Site. They help us determine information such as the type of content that a visitor accesses on our Site and the length of time that the visitor spends on any particular area of the Site. Our Site uses both session cookies and persistent cookies. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser, and it may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the Site. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser help file directions. You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies or notify you when a cookie is being sent. (Each browser is different, so check the “Help” menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.) You can visit our Site without accepting cookies. However, some features of the Site will not work properly unless cookies are authorized.

  • How We Use Information Collected Online
We generally use the information we collect online for the purposes for which it is provided and to enhance the products and services we offer to you.
    • Personal Information
We use your personal information to complete transactions that you enter into using our Site. We also use your personal information to communicate with you about specific transactions, changes or updates to our service, to make sure that you are satisfied with our products and services, or to find out how we can serve you better. You may, from time to time, receive information from us regarding new products, services, or features we think you will find valuable. Users may opt out of receiving future mailings from us; see the “Opt Out” section below.
    • Non-Personal Information
We use tracking data and other non-personal information obtained through cookies, IP addresses and other technologies to better understand how individuals are using our Site, to help diagnose problems with our servers, to administer our Site, and to improve Site-related services and features or otherwise enhance usability and functionality of our Site over time. This data may also be used to analyze customer traffic patterns and Site usage trends.
  • When We Disclose Your Information
    • Personal Information
Except as disclosed in this Policy, we do not share or disclose your personal data with or to third parties.

We may disclose your personal information: (i) to conform with applicable laws, respond to claims or comply with legal process served on us (e.g., a lawful subpoena, warrant or court order); (ii) to enforce or apply our policies or agreements (including to initiate, render, bill and collect for amounts owed to us); (iii) to protect the Site (including against any fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful use of the Site) and our operations or those of our affiliated entities; (iv) to protect the rights, property, privacy, safety of our users, our employees, our advertisers or sponsors, or the public; or (v) if we reasonably believe that an emergency involving immediate danger of death or serious physical injury to any person requires disclosure of communications or justifies disclosure of records without delay.

We reserve the right to provide personal information and other information collected online to a purchaser or successor entity in the event of a sale of our business or assets.

    • Non-Personal Information

We also may share aggregated statistical data and other non-personal information with our current and potential business partners. Such partners provide services that may include, but are not necessarily limited to, website hosting, data processing and analysis, back-up and security services, and processing of credit card transactions. Although we seek to require these service providers to protect such personal information, and to use it only for the purpose for which it was provided, we cannot be responsible for third parties’ violations of this Policy or of any other rights of visitors or consumers that use our Site.

    • Third Party Websites
Our Site may contain links to other Internet websites, including sites that we do not own or operate. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites, including such sites’ use of any information collected when you click through links to those sites. If you provide any information directly to parties other than Unitus Labs, different rules may apply to the use or disclosure of the personal information disclosed. If you visit such websites, we encourage you to check the privacy practices of the sites.
  • Privacy Protection for Children
In accordance with the terms of use, our Site is not directed to children under the age of 18, and they may not use the Site without having obtained parent’s or legal guardian’s express consent. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), children under the age of 13, when permitted to use the Site upon parental consent, should not provide any personal information on this Site. If we later learn that any member under the age of 13 has accessed the Site in violation of this provision, we will take appropriate steps to remove the member’s information from the database and we will restrict this individual from future access to the UnitusLabs.org service.
  • Security
We take commercially reasonable measures to prevent unauthorized intrusion to the Site and the loss, misuse or alteration of personal information. We have a firewall which serves as a barrier to unauthorized users to prevent access to our systems. We also try to monitor system and application activity logs to identify any unusual activity, from authorized and/or unauthorized individuals accessing our systems and/or making changes to stored information, for investigation. Unfortunately, however, no security system or system of transmitting data over the Internet can be guaranteed to be entirely secure. Thus, while we seek to protect your personal information, we cannot be responsible for loss, corruption, or unauthorized acquisition of personal information furnished to this Site or for any resulting damages.
  • Consent
This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and is subject to our Terms of Use. Your use of the Site and any information you provide on the Site remains subject to the terms of this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use. Your use of our Solutions Web services remains subject to this Privacy Policy and our Solutions Web Services Terms of Use.
  • Offline v. Online Practices
This Policy applies solely to our collection, use and disclosure of personal information obtained online through our Site, and does not apply to any of our practices conducted offline.
  • International Users
UnitusLabs.org is hosted in the United States and is intended for and directed to users in the United States. If you are a user accessing the Site from the European Union, Asia, or any other region with laws or regulations governing personal data collection, use, and disclosure, that differ from United States laws, please be advised that through your continued use of the Site, which is governed by U.S. law, this Privacy Policy, and our Terms of Use, you are transferring your personal information to the United States and you consent to that transfer.
